What to Do If Images Are Not Loading During Your Test?
Contents
If you're taking a test and notice that some images or figures aren’t appearing, don't worry — you're not alone, and there are simple steps you can follow to resolve this issue.
This guide will walk you through common causes and effective solutions.
🧐 Why This Happens
🔍 Images in our test platform are stored securely using Amazon S3, a widely used cloud storage service. Sometimes, your device or network may block access to this service, which prevents images from loading properly.
This issue is not caused by the test platform itself, but rather external factors like firewalls, device policies, or network restrictions.
✅ Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide
1. Check the Device
Some school-issued devices — especially Chromebooks or laptops with strict configurations — may block image loading due to firewall or content filtering policies.
Try This:
- Use a personal device (like a personal laptop or desktop) instead of a school-issued one.
- Make sure the device is not connected to a VPN or filtered through school monitoring software.
2. Try a Different Internet Connection
If the issue persists even on a personal device, the problem may lie with the Wi-Fi network or internet provider.
Try This:
- Switch to a mobile hotspot or a different Wi-Fi network (e.g., home instead of school).
- If images load successfully on a different network, it confirms the original network was blocking access.
3. Whitelist Amazon S3 in Network or Firewall Settings
If you're using a school device or school network, it may require IT support to adjust settings.
Ask the IT team to:
Whitelist access to s3.amazonaws.com
(Amazon S3).
- Remove any firewall rules or content filters that block cloud-hosted images.
We’re happy to communicate with your school’s IT department directly — just send us their email and we’ll reach out to support.
4. Optional: Try Installing Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 App
Some students have resolved the issue by installing a free DNS app that can bypass certain restrictions.
Steps:
- Install the 1.1.1.1 app by Cloudflare (available on mobile and desktop).
- Open the app and activate the service.
- Reattempt the test and check if the images load.
This method can be considered as a workaround for specific cases.
5. Best Practices to Avoid Image Issues
To ensure a smooth testing experience, we recommend the following setup:
- Browser: Google Chrome (updated to the latest version)
- Device: Personal laptop or desktop (avoid iPads or school-issued devices)
- Internet: A home network or a network without strict firewall restrictions
- Other: Disable VPNs and content filters during testing
