What are the types of sections that can be built in an Assessment?
Assessment creation is at the heart of effective teaching, and within EdisonOS, trainers are empowered with three distinct types of assessment sections, each designed to cater to unique student needs and enhance their learning experiences.
1. Standard or Baseline Test Section
The Standard Test Section within EdisonOS serves as the foundation—a baseline measurement of a student's knowledge and performance. Trainers can create standardized tests that offer consistent evaluation criteria. This type of assessment helps establish a starting point for students, allowing educators to gauge their initial understanding and skill levels across various subjects or domains. By setting a standard, trainers can track progress and identify areas that require focused attention as students embark on their learning journey.
Benefits of this type of Test Section.
Establishes a baseline understanding of student knowledge and skills.
Provides a standardized evaluation method for consistent performance measurement.
Serves as a benchmark for tracking student progress over time.
2. Adaptive Test Section
The Adaptive Test Section introduces a dynamic approach to assessments, tailoring the test experience based on individual student performance in a previous test section. This type of assessment adapts to the student's abilities, presenting questions that align with their skill levels. This personalized approach ensures that students are appropriately challenged, maximizing their learning potential while boosting confidence. Many standardised tests use this kind of an adaptive testing feature and now you can too!
Benefits of this type of Test Section
Personalizes the test experience based on individual student abilities.
Offers challenges for higher achievers and support for areas needing improvement.
Enhances student engagement by adjusting difficulty levels in real-time.
3. Random Test Section
The Random Test Section within EdisonOS is an innovative tool that introduces variability into assessments. Trainers can create tests that generate random sets of questions from a broader pool. This type of assessment is beneficial for reinforcing learning across various topics, preventing students from memorizing specific patterns, and promoting a deeper understanding of concepts. Random tests encourage critical thinking and adaptability as students encounter a diverse range of questions with each attempt.
Benefits of this type of Test Section
Encourages comprehensive learning across a variety of topics.
Prevents predictability and promotes critical thinking skills.
Provides a diverse testing experience with each attempt.
PRO TIP : To use the Adaptive Test Section, first create a Standard section in the Assessment. You'll need a baseline test that is common for all students. Based on this test the Adaptive rule engine will pick questions for each students adaptive section. Students will get different questions based on their performance in the baseline test section. Use Random Test Sections for short drills and specific skill testing,
